For almost 20 years, Pat Benatar has maintained a level of success that puts her in that small, elite group of artists who deserve the title "superstar". She is a 4 time Grammy winner with 6 platinum and 4 gold albums to her credit. Her top ten radio hits include such fan favorites as "I Need A Lover", "Heartbreaker", "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" among others too numerous to list.
In recent years, her recordings have broadened the focus of Pat and her husband/guitarist/producer/songwriting partner, Neil Giraldo into blues, mainstream pop, and other modern musical genres. These newer musical stylings have only added to Benatar and Giraldo's reputations as top-level musicians and performers. But even with her newfound successes, Pat's live performances have always continued to include selections from her hits of the past two decades.
Now, as Pat and Neil prepare to move forward into the 21st century, they have chosen to release a live retrospective album of one of their earliest performances. The album, "8-15-80" on CMC International Records features previously unreleased live recordings from Pat's show at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco and includes some of her earlier hits and fan favorites that have not been performed in many years. A fitting look back before Pat Benatar moves ahead in the years to come.
Another excellent early live recording of a performance recorded at the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver, Colorado. It is currently only available as a UK import. Well worth it just to hear Pat introduce Neil as, "the greasiest guy in Denver". She's got attitude plus, on this one!
